“Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a real blessing.”  Psalm 127:3

Baby Dedication

This is amazing. First we appreciate where children have come from, they have come from God and we first and foremost recognise that our children belong to God before they belong to you and I. God in his goodness gives children as gifts to parents. Children are not a hindrance or an interruption to our lives but a reward and a real blessing. Parents not only have the awesome responsibility of caring for this gift, but also the wonderful privilege of enjoying the gift.

Because children belong to God and are given by grace as gifts from God, we dedicate our children back to God for his love, protection, care and guidance.

With God’s help, the help of your family and church family, a dedication is a commitment. It’s a commitment with a deep desire that your child may walk in the path of wisdom and an abundant life that Jesus offered. The dedication commitment is:

• to provide your child a Christian home of love and peace,
• to raise your child in the truth of Christian instruction and discipline,
• to encourage your child daily through praise and correction,
• to pray constantly for your child and to
• encourage your child one day to trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord

A baby dedication is also an occasion for us to bless your child and to believe for God’s blessing upon their life:

‘Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”’
Numbers 6:22-27

Please do not communicate a date to friends and family until we have confirmed a date.  

Please also note, in order to participate in our baby dedication ceremony, at least one parent or grandparent or guardian must be a member of the Vine Church.

Because Baby Dedication involves the entire family, we ask you to complete the following questions to help us understand the child’s support system.

Why would you like your baby dedicated? Don’t worry about this. Doesn’t have the be the right answer or complicated or technical. Just from the heart why you would like your baby dedicated.

I will ask one of you to say a prayer on the day. Please write out a prayer for your baby and one of you can pray it on the day.

During the service, the pastor will use “anointing oil” and place a drop of this on your baby’s head. This symbolises being dedicated to God and also the blessing and protection of the Holy Spirit.

Would you like a table in the café reserved for you and your family after the service? If so, we can find someone to serve your family a free lunch to celebrate. Please tell us how many people so we can reserve enough seats. PLEASE NOTE THIS OFFER MAY OR MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE.
Will you provide a Baby Video?(Required)

You are welcome to show a 2-3 minute video of your baby before the dedication. If you would like this done, the video MUST be handed into the Vine Church office or emailed (via Dropbox or other Transfer software) to the Vine Church Office ( mail@thevinechurch.net ) no later than the Wednesday before the dedication service. This is to ensure the video is tested and working before the service. Will you be providing us with a video?
