Show Me Your Glory
In his last speech before he was assassinated Martin Luther King quoted the line from the old hymn “mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord”. Like Moses looking over to the promised that we read about in Deuteronomy 34. MLK seemed to be saying that the promised land he saw was the freedom for black people they dreaming of. He seemed to be seeing this as the glory of God coming on earth. Is it possible that we can see the glory of God on earth too?
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters covers the sea – Habbakuk 2:14
Alan Kelly highlighted the 3 Glory Stories in The Bible
- The priests could not enter the temple of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled it.When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, “He is good; his love endures forever.” 2 Chronicles 7:2
- Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. Acts 2:2-3
- Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” Exodus 33:18
